Tonight was the closest I’ve come to forgetting about NaBloPoMo. Thank goodness I went to check my email before bed or I would be blissfully asleep right now, unaware of the tragic events unfolding, my dreams of a perfect November dashed. Ok, I’ve had a bit of wine…..time for bed.

We braved Whole Foods today to actually do some shopping, as opposed to my last trip when I just stood around drooling. We did pretty well, my only truly frivolous purchase was freshly ground chocolate almond butter-how could I resist?
The best part by far though, was the tasting. Aside from the usual cheese and bread samples, they had two long tables devoted to samples of their thanksgiving menu. I am a great lover of Thanksgiving-a holiday all about eating with one of the stress of gift-giving-and particularly stuffing. We filled up our little plates and stood in a corner and chowed down. I fed Ashok some stuffing but he lost interest quickly. I then looked at him and asked “Are you sure you’re my son?”
I’m totally ready for Thanksgiving.

Project Runway is finally back. I was so excited, I even joined a fantasy game. So far, this season promises to be interesting with crazy Elisa, crying Rickey with his awful hats and too many bizarre hairstyles to count. I am thrilled. And now I will have blogging fodder for Wednesday nights. If you’ve already watched the premiere, check out Jezebel’s liveblogging of the show. I thought it was hilarious.
My new Garmin arrived today and is currently charging. I was so excited to take it out for a spin tomorrow morning but now I’m not feeling so hot and wondering if I will be up for a run in the morning. If I don’t get one in tomorrow, I will have to wait until Monday which will kind of suck. Anyway, I’m hoping a good nights’ sleep will help me feel better. That and ice cream should do the trick.

Not much of interest tonight. So here are some exciting bullet points, which magically make this post seem longer than it actually is:
- Ashok is finally feeling better, I am glad to report. He is, however, becoming increasingly difficult to feed these days. Gone are the days of him gulping down pureed green beans and squash. These days, I am lucky if I can get him to eat a handful of pasta and half a yogurt before putting him to bed. He does, however, really like grapes. Is it ok if he eats them for all his meals?
- Great hill run this morning with a violinist friend of mine who has become a great running partner. She runs a bit faster than me and likes to run hills (sicko) so I really have to push to keep up, making it a good challenge for me. Plus, she made me breakfast afterwards. I am quite happy with this arrangement.
- Basketball season has begun. That means that there are several nights a week when I am denied access to my precious television and DVR and instead sit in my office staring at the laptop (also fun, don’t get me wrong), listening to Brian scream at the Lakers through the television.
- Brian bought me a new Garmin! He rocks, and is therefore allowed unlimited basketball watching and screaming.
- NaBloPoMo is not even half over yet and I am already resorting to the type of post where I string together a list of various post ideas that have no merit and attempt to make them into something interesting (FAIL).
- My dog smells.
And that’s it for tonight.

What is it about this time of year that makes me want to gorge myself with pie? I just ate 2 pieces of pumpkin pie, both with ice cream and I am preparing to place an order for 2 Pecan Chocolate Chunk Pies from Auntie Em’s for the week of Thanksgiving. I actually feel really gross right now, and am purposely avoiding the kitchen as I know the chocolate chip cookies my sister made are sitting in there, and even though I am on the verge of being nauseated, I might still eat one. I am SICK.
At least I am running hills tomorrow morning, so I can go out and punish myself appropriately. Of course, I’ll probably just come home from my run and finish off those cookies for breakfast. SICK.

This morning, after dropping Ashok off at daycare, I was madly running around town running as many errands as I could before heading back to pick him up. Between a stop at PetCo for cat nail clippers (she keeps sticking to the carpet, I think that means it’s time to clip them) and a stop at Crate & Barrel for glass food storage containers (I am trying to avoid the plastics), I drove by the brand spankin’ new Whole Foods Market in Pasadena. Whole Foods is a bit of an obsession for me-I know it’s overpriced, but there’s just so much good stuff there. I had promised myself that I wouldn’t check out the new store for at least a month because I knew it would be mobbed, but it was a weekday at 11am so I figured I’d give it a go.
First of all, it is two (!) stories with one of those shopping cart escalators like the two story Targets. Secondly, it is freaking enormous. I didn’t shop today, I just wandered, but it is hard to imagine getting out of there in less than an hour. Too much to see, too much to taste. Here’s just a sampling:

An entire counter of nuts-raw, spiced and flavored…

…candy, candy, and more candy (I lingered here for a while)…

..the Mediterranean Bar, with many different kinds of feta…

…and the wall of yogurts.

Some things seemed unnecessary, like “Custom Butters.” Really? Do we need that? There was also an entire counter devoted to rice pudding. Ok, Whole Foods, I love you but you can be wacky sometimes.

The Juice Bar
In addition to the juice bar, there was also a wine & tapas lounge, complete with swanky sofas, a coffee bar, a dining area just next to the sushi chefs and oh…the list goes on. It was really a little crazy, a pretty perfect example of American excess. But then again, did you see all that candy?
I’m amazed I got as many clear pictures as I did. This was my first foray into photographing things other than my family for this blog and I was a little nervous. I kept thinking a security guard was going to leap out form behind the pastry case and confiscate my iPhone. Thankfully, I made it out unscathed. And all I bought was lunch.
